Benefit calculation and its amount

The disability pension has two components, a basic and percentage assessment. The basic assessment is identical to all pensions. The percentage is individual and depends on the length of the insurance period, earnings before the disability occurred and the degree of disability. In addition to the period of insurance accumulated until the disability occurred, the so-called additional period is added, which is, in simple terms, the period between the date when the entitlement to the disability pension arisen and the retirement age that a person could, hypothetically, work if he did not become a disabled person. The basic assessment amount is specified in the Act on pension insurance. The amount of the percentage assessment of the disability pension shall be set at a percentage rate for each full year of the insurance period, depending on the degree of disability:

  • in case of disability pensions for the first degree of disability, it shall be 0.5 % of the calculation base,

  • in the case of disability pensions for the second degree disability, it shall be 0.75% of the calculation base,

  • in case of disability pensions for the third degree of disability, it shall be 1.5% of the calculation base.

Also the so-called periods treated as periods of insurance, such as childcare periods, etc., are included in the insurance period for the purposes of the pension calculation.

The exact calculation of the pension amount shall only be made by CSSA in the proceedings regarding the pension entitlement.
