Benefit calculation and its amount

The old-age pension has two components, namely a basic and a percentage assessment. The basic assessment is identical for all pensions, the percentage assessment is determined individually. The amount of the basic assessment is laid down in the Act on pension insurance and is subject to an adjustment (increase) at the beginning of each calendar year – the beneficiary is informed of the adjustment of the pension amount in writing. The percentage assessment shall be determined by the percentage rate from the calculation base according to the accumulated period of insurance.

In 2024, the amount of the basic assessment of this type of old-age pension amounts to CZK 4400 per month; the amount of the percentage assessment may not be lower than CZK 770 per month.

Two factors affect the pension amount: the length of the pension insurance period and the amount of earnings during the relevant period. For each full year (365 days) of pension insurance (until the date when the entitlement to pension arises), it amounts to 1.5% of the calculation base. If the entitlement to pension has already been acquired but the gainful activity continues and no pension application has been filed, the pension shall be increased by 1.5% for every 90 calendar days of gainful activity.

The basic assessment for early retirement shall be the same as for the regular old-age pension, but the percentage assessment shall be reduced, if the early retirement exceed 360 days, the reduction is greater.

For the pension calculation, the insurance period shall also include the so-called periods treated as periods of insurance, e.g. periods of care of children etc.

The indicative pension amount can be calculated by the CSSA calculator.

The exact pension calculation will only made by CSSA in the pension entitlement proceedings.
