Payment of benefits in the territory of the Czech Republic

Payment of pension benefits in the territory of the Czech Republic

CSSA pays pensions in advance in regular monthly periods – either by a cashless transfer to the client’s account (or to the account of his/her spouse) maintained by bank institutions, or in cash via the Czech Post. The cash payment via Czech Post is charged, and starting from 1 April 2020, the client will pay CZK 29 for each pension payment (the amount of the pension paid is reduced by the amount above).

CSSA also remits payments of pensions to social services facilities with a full-year stay, provided that the recipient of the pension benefit is a pensioner or his guardian and the recipient of the benefit has agreed to receive the payment in this manner.

The written decision on granting a pension being paid by the CSSA contains the information on the date on which the pensions will be paid out.

Payment of sickness benefits in the territory of the Czech Republic

In the first two weeks of the period of temporary incapacity to work, the employer shall pay a wage compensation for the working days. As of the 15th day of the period of incapacity to work, the sickness benefit is paid by the district social security administration for calendar days (including weekends and holidays).

The law does not provide for a specific date in the month by which the sickness benefit is to be paid. The sickness benefit, as well as other sickness insurance benefits, shall be paid retrospectively under the sickness insurance act within a period not exceeding one month following the date on which all necessary and correctly completed documents for entitlement to the payment of the benefit have been received by DSSA.

As a rule, the sickness benefit shall be granted no more than 380 calendar days (the so-called "support period") from the date of the occurrence of temporary incapacity to work or the quarantine order.
