Long-term attendance allowance of self-employed persons

Conditions for entitlement to long-term attendance allowance:

Long-term attendance allowance is a benefit of the Czech sickness insurance system. This benefit allows citizens to stay at home in a situation where they are going to take care of a family member for whom an attending physician of an inpatient health care facility has decided that his or her state of health needs full-time at-home care after discharge from hospitalisation. Benefits may only be paid to insured persons who meet other conditions, for a maximum of 90 calendar days.

General conditions applicable to employees also apply to self-employed persons; in addition to these conditions, entitlement to long-term care is conditional on:

  • the participation of a self-employed person in sickness insurance for at least three months immediately preceding the date of taking up long-term attendance allowance;
  • the self-employed person not pursuing activity as a self-employed person while receiving the long-term attendance allowance.
