Coronavirus Quarantine - how to proceed if you are insured in Czechia (you have a Czech employer)

You are in situation that you are obliged to stay in quarantine (because you were or are in contact with people with COVID-19, coronavirus, or you have visited some of the “risk countries” named by the Czech authorities), then the procedure is as follows:

You need a notification of ordered quarantine. This notification can be issued by a doctor or by a hygienist.

For this purpose, it is advisable to call your physician in Czechia (if you have one) and explain him/her your situation. When the physician decides on quarantine, he/she issues an electronic form “Rozhodnutí o dočasné pracovní neschopnosti” and sends it to the District Social Security Administration (hereinafter as “DSSA”). The doctor shall provide you with the number of the issued form. Afterwards you shall inform your employer on the situation. In addition to this, your employer shall be notified of your quarantine by the DSSA as well, or if necessary he/she can call the DSSA to verify the information on quarantine.

If you do not have a physician in the Czech Republic, you can call Krajská hygienická stanice (a regional public health/hygienists authority) and ask there for confirmation of your quarantine. Contact details concerning these regional authorities are available at: https://www.mzcr.cz/dokumenty/kontakty-na-krajske-hygienicke-stanice_18604_4122_1.html.

Please be advised that in case of quarantine according to the Czech law, you are entitled to the same benefits in cash as in case of an illness, namely to sickness benefit. More on these social insurance benefits at: https://www.cssz.cz/web/en/benefits-provided-under-sickness-insurance.
